Preview: Lameness is the most common cause of poor performance and loss of training days in sports horses. Diagnosis of lameness is based on careful clinical examination and gait assessment, with or without objective evaluation, followed by diagnostic anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging of the area of suspected source of pain. Research has been abundant in many areas related to lameness diagnosis, but it can be challenging to the practicing sports horse veterinarian to keep up to date with the latest studies and filter the clinically relevant information. The aim of this Special Collection is to highlight the latest results of research in the field of lameness diagnosis that can be directly applied in the daily orthopaedic work of sports horse veterinarians.
