American horses have not been slaughtered for human consumption in the United States since 2007, thanks to overwhelming public opposition to this inhumane practice and a federal restriction on funding. However, a loophole in the law allows tens of thousands of our nation's beloved equines to be trucked across American borders each year to suffer a cruel and unnecessary fate.
