Preview: Having regard to the Opinion of the Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail dated 19 January 2021 concerning the assessment of a draft guide to good practice aimed at ensuring the welfare of equidae.
The Guide pour l’Application des Engagements de la Charte pour le Bien-être Équin which is intended to guarantee the welfare of equids and has been drawn up jointly by the Fédération nationale du Cheval (FNC), the Association vétérinaire équine française (AVEF), the Fédération française d'équitation (FFE), France Galop, le Trot, the Groupement hippique national (GHN) the Institut de l'élevage (IDELE), Interbev, the Institut français du cheval et de l'équitation (IFCE), the Fédération des éleveurs du galop (FEG), the CNRS, the University of Rennes, the Société hippique française (SHF), the Société française des équidés de travail (SFET), and the RESPE, is validated by the Minister of Agriculture in its version number 2.0 of July 2021, on the basis of current regulations and scientific knowledge.
It is now the responsibility of professionals to update this guide in light of further recommendations made to them and of scientific advances, with a view to taking increasing account of animal welfare.
