Preview: Pertaining to: any natural or legal person who acquires or transfers for a fee or free of charge or keeps a domestic carnivore, any equidae keeper.
Purpose: to lay down the details of the declarations to be provided by keepers of pets and equidae and information on the pet homing contract.
Entry into force: the text enters into force on the day following its publication. However, Article 2 of the decree provides for deferred application dates for some of its provisions concerning the evidence to be provided by keepers of equidae for professional purposes of their knowledge of the specific needs of the species, the certificates of knowledge required for non-professionals who keep equidae and the acquisition of pets, and the details for the control of online advertisements for the relinquishment of pets.
Contents: the decree issued for the application of articles 1, 10, 18 and 19 of French law 2021-1539 of November 30, 2021, specifies the details for declarations to be made by keepers of equidae as part of their professional activities; the contents and procedures for the award of certificates of commitment and knowledge for all non-professional keepers of equidae on the one hand, and for any natural person who acquires through payment or free of charge a pet animal on the other. It also specifies the essential information to be included in the pet homing contract signed by the receiving household and any shelter or any association without shelters carrying out the placement of pets with adoptive families. It also specifies the details of awareness-raising materials and information relating to offers involving the relinquishment of pets.
