Document type : podcast of the France Inter program L'Heure Bleue (53 min), Wednesday March 22, 2023.

Authors: Laure Adler, Elodie Royer, Lilian Alleaume, Jean-Baptiste Audibert, Sascha Sais, Céline Villegas. Guest : Florence Burgat

Preview: In her latest book "L'inconscient des animaux" (Seuil), Florence Burgat explores our relationship with animals, not in terms of human opinions on animals but focusing on what they reveal about themselves and their feelings.
A philosopher of living animals and plants, Florence Burgat rejects anthropocentrism. Following on from Être le bien d'un autre (belonging to others, Payot et Rivages, 2018), which explored legal characterisations of animals that reifies them, and Qu'est-ce qu'une plante? (what is a plant? Seuil, 2020), which offered readers a phenomenology of plant life, Florence Burgat is now tackling the animal psyche.
