Preview: Goat farmers are no different from other livestock producers in the concern they show for the comfort of their flocks, a concern that also chimes with public expectations. For some years now, the industry has been developing tools to assess and manage the welfare of small ruminants. For the past 7 years, the industry has been working on objective indicators that can measure goat welfare in different systems. This resulted, first, in the Goatwell program, which studied the impact of livestock farming practices. It was followed by the CMoubienne project, which sought to provide the necessary tools to the goat (and sheep) industry to assess and manage welfare. As a further step, the French Interprofessional Association for goats has decided to develop the Cap'well mobile application, as announced by Mélissa Brocart, from Anicap, at the recent Journées techniques caprines in Dienné. "It will be launched in the next few days. The Cap'Well application will make it possible to take animal welfare further.
