L’hyperflexion, une attitude (une habitude) à proscrire?

Document type video from the Ifce website

Authors: Patrick Galloux and Isabelle Burgaud

Preview: Hyperflexion work on the horse's neck is widely practised in the world of sport horses and, more particularly, by dressage riders. This technique of hyper-submission, in which the neck is bent with the head tucked right in towards the chest,  has become a regular practice for many professional riders and has spread among amateur dressage riders.

The majority of scientific studies on hyperflexion training have noted the damage caused by this work and have not been able to demonstrate its usefulness in the development of the horse.

In this webinar (in French), Patrick GALLOUX, a Saumur Cadre Noir instructor with a level 3 qualification in sports education, will present the main findings of these studies, setting out the risks that this practice poses to the health and welfare of horses.
