Preview (translation): As support for a referendum on animal rights passes the threshold of 120 parliamentary signatures required to hold a vote, the dog information site Caniprofhas published the first survey to gauge French support for the animal protection measures on the ballot paper and also suggests how they might behave in the polling booth if the referendum were well-organised. Conducted by Ifop's "Politics and News" department among a nationally representative sample of 1,000 French people, this study reveals both the extent of French support for the referendum initiative, which has so far not had much media coverage, and the relative consensus that currently exists on these issues among voters of all backgrounds.
