Summary: The French Directorate General for Food will be creating a national abattoir inspection force. It is planned that this team of 6 inspectors with a nation-wide remit will operate in all French abattoirs. The aim is to carry out food safety and animal protection inspections, at the request of local heads of police or the Directorate-General for Food, to help improve the general level of risk control in abattoirs in France.
