Preview: In order to generate positive images of the good animal welfare provision to be seen every day on farms, the French Chambres d'Agriculture are launching a photo competition aimed mainly at farmers and farm advisors. Amateur photographers who meet the competition criteria may also participate.

This competition started on 15 March and ends on 15 June 2021. It is organised by the Brittany Chambre d'Agriculture as part of the CASDAR BICOSE project (Bien-être Animal, du Concept au Service de l’Elevage). [...] The competition is not limited to Brittany and all French chambers of agriculture are invited to participate.

Photos submitted may illustrate one of the five animal freedoms defined by the OIE (the World Organisation for Animal Health) [...] The photos should be of scenes that demonstrate one or more aspects of the definition of welfare, or an activity to improve it. Particular attention will be given to the representation of the diversity of farms in France.

The results of this competition will be announced at a professional event to be held as part of the forthcoming SPACE salon in September in Rennes. The selected photos will then form a travelling exhibition to raise awareness across the farming sector of animal welfare-friendly practices to demonstrate the commitment of farmers to welfare to the general public and how they are responding to what is a strong social demand.
