Preview: 28 animal protection NGOs join forces
All year round, thanks to support from the public, NGOs are working to protect wild, domestic and farmed animals and animals in captivity. As the French presidential election campaign gains momentum, the Convergence Animaux Politique association has persuaded 28 NGOs to join forces to encourage the candidates to make a commitment to the animal cause and and (at last) do what society expects of them.
Our findings
According to a recent opinion poll*, the commitments made by candidates towards animals will be an important factor in the electoral choices of a large number of voters in 2022. The votes of 47% of voters could be influenced by a candidate's proposals on animal welfare
Our mission
To encourage all candidates to commit to meeting the public's expectations on the treatment of animals
To inform voters on the levels of commitment by the different candidates to help them decide who to vote for
Measures proposed
Divided into 6 themes, these 22 priority measures have been set by some 40 experts from NGOs. They were chosen for their positive impact on animals and on society as a whole. Ambitious, realistic and widely supported by the public, these actions should be taken over the next five years.
The candidates
All the registered candidates have been contacted by the NGOs: now it is their turn to act! Candidate profiles will be updated soon to keep you informed of their levels of commitment.
