Preview: The revision of European rules on the welfare of animals on farms and at the time of slaughter is an issue on which the European Union must take the lead, according to a note from Slovenia, supported by Bulgaria, France, Portugal and Sweden, which will be discussed at the Agriculture Council meeting in Brussels on Monday 27 May.
