On pig farms, farmers who want to improve animal welfare find they have to review and reconsider their facilities and practices. What are the effects of welfare improvements on a farmers' work, in terms of time, labor, concentration and satisfaction? Camille Gérard and Nicolas Villain, from the Chambre d'Agriculture de Bretagne, will present the results of their investigations on livestock farms, drawing on case studies that cover maternity units and free-range pens, bringing an end to tail docking, and the socialization of piglets in the maternity unit.
