Review of the different aspects of welfare involved in dog-assisted interventions (DAIs) and their relevance to the health and safety of DAI participants. It highlights the potential for dog welfare to be compromised during DAIs and suggests that regular dog welfare assessments should be carried out to ensure the quality of DAIs.
