At the European Parliament, a Member of Parliament questions the Commission on the proposed regulation for the protection of animals during transport, which is upsetting players in the meat industry. The European Commission is defending its proposal for a regulation based on EFSA's scientific opinions and an in-depth impact assessment. Modelling carried out by the Joint Research Centre indicates a negligible impact on consumer prices.
